Counselling and Psychotherapy are both talking therapies but differ in their duration and the scope of the clinical work. Counselling is usually focused on a specific issue and is shorter term, whereas psychotherapy tends to be longer in duration and involves a deeper psychological exploration into underlying issues. Psychotherapists undertake more in-depth training with a requirement for significant personal therapy. Whilst I am a Psychotherapist, I have considerable experience of delivering counselling as well as psychotherapy.

Psychotherapy
Whilst I have extensive experience of offering brief focused therapy, I tend to work mid to long term in my private practice (6 months +). The number of sessions will vary and this will be discussed at the initial consultation and will depend on you and what you are bringing to therapy. We would begin by committing to six sessions and then review and agree on how to proceed.
Supervision
The number of sessions and frequency of supervision will depend of your experience, complexity of clinical work and individual needs. We will discuss your specific requirements at the initial consultation.
